Defending Yourself and Your Family

In Lavaca County, Texas a man found the most horrific scene that I think I could imagine.  A man was raping his child.  This rapist had been invited to the father's home and took advantage of his sweet, innocent child.  The father, enraged by what he had seen, threw the man off of his daughter and began beating him in the head and neck.  When he stopped, he realized that the rapist may die and he called 911, frantically begging for help.  He had no intention of killing him, and yet the rapist died.

I think most of us would agree with the grand jury, in that the father was not at fault.  He was not charged and was found that he was just in defending his daughter.  You can read the story here.

This is a perfect example of defending your family.  You have the right to defend yourself and your family.  Any judge or jury in their right mind, and without alternative motives, would understand and defend that.  As disappointing as it is that a life is lost, they made that choice.  You did not force them to attack you or your family.  They are deciding to take the chance of losing their life.
